AS THE debate over DNA records hots up, Ipswich borough leader Liz Harsant today backed calls for a national database. Mrs Harsant, who is also a trustee of the Somebody's Daughter appeal set up in the wake of Steve Wright's orgy of murder in the town, supported calls from senior police officers.

Gales cause chaos in county
GALE-force winds of up to 60mph caused chaos across the county today, with scores of accidents reported and cranes crashing down at the Port of Felixstowe.

Statue to celebrate sea defences
AN artist is to be asked to design a statue to celebrate the £10 million sea defence scheme to protect southern Felixstowe for the next century. Suffolk Coastal plans to commission an artist to create a sculpture which will be placed on the seafront once the work is completed later this year.
