09 October 2009Well where to begin. The building is very old so expect hard to climb stairs if you are old or disabled. The Hotel is mainly a Chinese restaurant and I think that they want it just as that rather than a Hotel. The room was small very basic with a head board that smacked the wall even with the lightest touch. I put a pillow behind it which stopped the problem. The shower has no pressure at all and the toilet took about an hour to fill up after each flush. Take ear plugs if you are there when there is a market on Saturday morning or for the louts out and about Friday and Saturday evenings. The heater in the room was a free standing one which I had to return to the staff as there were no feet so the whole weight was resting on the wire. The heater sparked and shut off then sparked again. There are no markers on any of the electrical appliances indicating that they have been tested and were safe. The staff are pleasant enough but I do not like having to hand in the key every time I leave the hotel. There is no security box so any member of staff can access your room when you leave for a meal or a walk. Next door is weatherspoons which has cheap beer and cheap food and cheap people go in there to get drunk before they go elsewhere so expect loud music and drunk idiots after a certain time. DO NOT PAY THE ASKING PRICE. TELL THEM IT WAS CHEAPER ON THE INTERNET and you will get a better price but for £39.99 for a single room, it was extremely over priced. Yes there is free parking and you are in the centre of town but for value, go elsewhere.
