Although not exactly Ipswich, or Suffolk for that matter, if you're looking for a typical british seaside town, sandy beaches, ice cream, a pier with all the fun of the fair, then Clacton is a contender, very busy when the sun is shining as you would expect.
Approx 40 minutes drive from Ipswich.
